POMPEII, VESUVIUS AND WINE TASTING
The whole world knows the story of the roman city of Pompeii, frozen in time by the vulcanic ashes of Mount Vesuvius during the eruption of 79 a.d.
What a lot of people does not know is that the ashes who killed thousands of people, also made the soil fertile and rich in potassium: the region name Campania was given by the Romans who used to call this aea Campania Felix (happy countryside).
Today, thanks to those ashes, we can taste a very unique wine which only groves on the slopes of the volcano: the Lachrima Christi (Christ’s tear). Your Italian Driver won’t drink and drive, but he sure knows the best places to have some pasta, cheese and salami samples to taste the different varieties of this very special gift from the big bad volcano.
